The "Salt Specialization Workshop," organized in collaboration with Çankırı Karatekin University (ÇAKÜ) and the North Anatolian Development Agency (KUZKA), was held on May 30, 2025, at the ÇAKÜ Conference Hall in Çankırı, with the participation of academics, representatives of relevant institutions, and industry stakeholders.The workshop focused on comprehensive assessments and exchanges of views on the strategic use of salt, one of the province`s and the region`s most important natural resources. At the opening of the workshop, ÇAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mevlüt KARATAŞ, along with KUZKA Çankırı Investment Support Office Specialist Alperen KARAKAŞ and other speakers, made important statements regarding the strategic importance of salt in the province.The workshop examined salt-themed activities, projects, and publications that both the University and KUZKA have conducted, supported, and planned for future implementation. The workshop, organized as part of the "Result-Oriented Program (SOP) for Improving Competitiveness in Basic Sectors" conducted by KUZKA, aimed to increase the added value of the salt ecosystem and support projects for the development of new salt-derived products, thereby promoting salt specialization.Çankırı Karatekin University, designated a "Regional Development-Focused Specialization University" by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 2023, accelerated scientific, artistic, and educational efforts in this field with the "Sectoral Salt and Salt-Based Strategic Products Specialization Project." As a result of the workshop, it was decided to develop a strategic roadmap that will contribute to regional development.Additionally, the goal was to strengthen collaboration and synergy among institutions and organizations working in this field to increase the added value of salt-based strategic products produced, as well as the sustainable and efficient use of local resources.Rector Prof. Dr. Mevlüt KARATAŞ presented certificates of appreciation to the speakers.
